Swedish Meatballs
Yields servings
Mains
- 2/3 cup fresh breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- Place the breadcrumbs in a mixing bowl and add the milk. Let stand for about 5 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well (use your hands!). Using a wooden spoon, beat the mixture several times to incorporate some air. Shape the beef mixture into balls. Coat lightly with flour.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little oil. Cook the meatballs, turning to brown all sides. When the meatballs are cooked through, transfer to a plate, cover and keep warm until ready to serve.
Notes
Serving suggestion: Make a sauce; look for Swedish Meatball Sauce here on shareyourtable.com for a good recipe. Accompany with buttered noodles and steamed vegetables. A berry sauce or jam served alongside these meatballs would be lovely.
We recommend using The North Shore Cattle Company's grass fed beef as it is a Hawai‘i Seal of Quality Product. For more information on Seal of Quality products, click on the logo.
