Five Wines Under $25 to Celebrate Love

For this month of love, Master Sommelier Chuck Furuya, wine director of the DK Restaurant Group, gives us his wine recommendations to set the mood.

He says, "I am a very fortunate fellow, because my wife, Cheryle, and I work together—in our case in two restaurants. I asked her what wines under $25 she would love to enjoy." Here's their list:

SPARKLING WINE

RUGGERI Prosecco "Gold Label"

This Italian sparkler is so amazingly light, crisp and delicious.
About $21 a bottle

WHITE & PINK WINES

2007 CHATEAU D'ESCLANS Dry Rose "Whispering Angel"

Here is a dry, effortlessly light, crisp, exotically ethereal (as opposed to just fruit-driven) pink wine from Provence, France, which really is a quintessential "food" wine. It just innately makes a meal a much more pleasurable, complete and satisfying experience.
About $21 a bottle

2006 CF WINES Riesling Kabinett "Graacher Domprobst"

Well-made, handcrafted, slightly sweet, light German wines like this are ideal for Asian-inspired foods and for sipping in warm climates like Hawaii. This wine brings a smile to your face from your first sip to your last.
About $21 a bottle

RED WINES

2007 PALMINA Dolcetto

It is hard to imagine finding a more delicious Californian red wine. This Italian lookalike has NO hard edges and no coarseness. Just lovely, seamless and absolutely delicious.
About $21 a bottle

2006 CF WINES Pinot Noir

There just has to be a Pinot Noir on this list somewhere. Here is a very lovely, feminine, elegant Pinot with lots of class and seductive texture.
About $24 a bottle

These are all great choices! The CF Reisling, I have to say, is the single best pairing with Chinese food I've ever tried. The Ruggeri Prosecco is fantastic too (it was even better when you pick it up for around $13 a few years ago).
